Job Summary

The Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) is seeking an Experimental Technician to support the Microbiome Biotechnology department, specifically for the LiGNUM project. In this role, you will work across laboratory and pilot scales to advance the 'Bio-based Chemicals Pilot Plant' infrastructure. Your day-to-day responsibilities include developing and optimizing bioprocesses with a focus on downstream processing, constructing and maintaining experimental facilities, conducting biomass processing experiments, and managing data documentation and analysis. This position is ideal for a professional with a background in biotechnology or chemical process engineering who is eager to contribute to cutting-edge bioeconomy research. The position is part-time (28 hours/week) and fixed-term for 2.5 years.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a technician or a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology.

Experience

  • Professional experience in chemical and/or bio-process engineering
  • Practical experience in process development and optimization
  • Practical experience in fermentation with a focus on product separation and purification
  • Experience in up-scaling laboratory processes to pilot scale

  • EU Class B driver's license required. Willingness to travel for experimental purposes. Ability to work 28 hours per week (70% position).
