Job Summary

This role involves conducting cutting-edge research on the function of the transmembrane protein TMEM145 in the outer hair cells of the cochlea, specifically focusing on its role in tectorial membrane attachment crowns (TM-ACs) crucial for inner ear signal transduction. The successful candidate will apply advanced imaging techniques like super-resolution, fluorescence, and electron microscopy to analyze hair bundle structure and protein localization. Additionally, the position requires investigating molecular interactions between TMEM145 and known TM-AC components using biochemical assays and expression systems. This DFG-funded project offers an excellent opportunity for a doctoral candidate to contribute to significant advancements in molecular cell and sensory physiology, benefiting from intensive supervision and state-of-the-art technical equipment.
