Job Summary

As a Distribution Grid System Operator, you will play a critical role in maintaining the energy infrastructure of Hamburg. You will be responsible for monitoring the power grid from substations to individual house connections, ensuring the overall stability and safety of the system. Your day-to-day work involves managing grid availability, authorizing planned maintenance work based on current grid conditions, and troubleshooting technical issues to ensure rapid restoration of service for customers. You will act as a key technical point of contact, communicating effectively with field teams and residents. Additionally, you will utilize modern measurement and information technology to manage data from intelligent grid stations. This role is based in a control center and requires working in a full-shift rotation to ensure 24/7 grid security. You will be part of a major municipal energy provider, offering a stable and future-proof career path with a focus on professional development and operational excellence.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an Electrical Master (Elektromeister) or Technician, or a university degree in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

  • Professional experience in electrical engineering, grid operations, or a related technical field
  • Experience in technical decision-making within high-pressure environments
  • Experience working with complex technical infrastructure or utility systems
  • Proven ability to maintain operational safety and quality standards

Additional

  • Must be willing to work in a full-shift rotation (24/7). Must work on-site in the control center. Successful completion of a security screening is required.
