Job Summary

The Gütersloh District Police Authority is seeking an IT Investigative Support Specialist to join their Criminal Investigation Department. In this role, you will provide critical technical support for criminal investigations, focusing on the forensic preservation of evidence. Your day-to-day responsibilities include securing data from PCs, networks, mobile devices, navigation systems, and various storage media. You will also provide expert advice and training to colleagues. This position is ideal for a professional with a background in digital forensics or IT who is looking to apply their technical skills in a law enforcement context. The role requires a high degree of independence, physical resilience for field operations such as searches, and the flexibility to work outside standard business hours. You will be part of a public service team dedicated to ensuring public safety in the Gütersloh district.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor of Science in General and Digital Forensics, or a degree in Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, IT Security, Information and Communication Technology, or a state-certified technician (DQR-Level 6) in Computer Science.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT or digital forensics
  • 3 years of relevant professional experience required for applicants with a vocational IT qualification (Fachinformatiker)

German (Fluent)

  • Valid Class B driver's license, physical ability to lift/carry 25kg, willingness to work outside regular business hours, and successful background check (no pending criminal proceedings).
