Job Summary

The Niedersächsisches Landesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit (LAVES) is seeking a dedicated Food Chemist to join their Institute for Consumer Products in Lüneburg. In this role, you will be responsible for the specialized examination and food law assessment of cosmetic products, detergents, cleaning agents, and tattooing inks. Your daily tasks will include preparing reports, expert assessments, and statements, as well as coordinating and processing examination projects. You will also review results using laboratory data information systems and collaborate closely with technical laboratory personnel on method development, optimization, and validation. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Food Chemistry with a second state examination (2. Staatsexamen)

Experience

  • Professional experience in the legal assessment of examination results for cosmetic products, detergents, cleaning agents, and tattooing inks
  • Practical experience in modern instrumental analysis (GC-MSD, GC-MS/MS, LC-MSD, LC-MS/MS)
  • Experience in coordinating and processing examination projects
  • Experience in reviewing examination results using laboratory data information systems
  • Experience in developing, implementing, optimizing, and validating testing methods
  • Experience in collaborating with technical laboratory personnel
  • Experience in training various professional groups

Additional

  • This is a part-time position (19.9 hours/week) with a fixed-term contract until September 30, 2026. Candidates must be willing to participate in the training of various LAVES training branches. Applicants with severe disabilities will be given preference if equally qualified.
