Job Summary
The State Commissioner for Data Protection in Lower Saxony is seeking an IT Specialist to focus on technical data protection under the GDPR. In this role, you will handle fundamental data protection matters, advise responsible entities and data protection officers, and conduct technical audits. You will also draft expert opinions, participate in European expert committees, and create guidance documents to sensitize the public to data protection concerns. Key requirements include a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, combined with several years of professional experience in IT security and cybersecurity. You should possess strong communication skills to translate complex technical issues into understandable guidance. This position is unique as it offers the opportunity to work within an independent, high-level supervisory authority, providing a high degree of autonomy, flexible working conditions, and the chance to shape data protection standards at a state and European level.
Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Administrative Informatics, or comparable fields. Alternatively, qualification for the second entry level of the second career group (Laufbahngruppe 2, 2. Einstiegsamt) in General Services with additional profound IT qualification.

- Several years of professional experience in practice
