Job Summary

As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN), you will join a multidisciplinary team focused on developing AI-based animal welfare monitoring for pig farming. Your primary responsibility involves bridging the gap between behavioral biology and AI technology. You will conduct validation studies, generate annotated datasets, and test the practical implementation of AI tools in collaboration with the Fraunhofer IGD. This role requires a strong background in behavioral biology or life sciences, with the ability to manage complex research projects and communicate effectively across scientific disciplines. You will contribute to the 'KI-Tierwohl' research network, working in both laboratory and practical farm environments. Required Skills

Education

PhD in Behavioral Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in conducting behavioral studies, ideally with pigs or livestock.
  • Demonstrated publication record appropriate to career stage.
  • Experience in collaborating within multidisciplinary research environments.
  • Experience in data annotation and experimental validation.

Additional

  • Valid authorization for conducting animal experiments (FELASA B or C) is highly desirable. Must be willing to work under practical conditions in stables/farms.
