Job Summary
As a Finance Manager at the Oeko-Institut, you will serve as a key strategic partner to the executive board, overseeing financial planning, controlling, and reporting. Your day-to-day responsibilities include managing liquidity, preparing budgets and quarterly reports, and ensuring compliance with tax and commercial law, particularly regarding non-profit and research-specific regulations. You will act as a primary interface between the institute and its subsidiary, coordinating financial processes and overseeing third-party project funding. This role requires a strong analytical mindset to drive digitalization in financial processes and establish transparent, audit-proof institutional regulations. You will collaborate closely with internal departments, external tax consultants, and international partners. This position is unique as it combines high-level financial stewardship with a mission-driven environment focused on sustainability, offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making in a prestigious research organization.
Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Public Administration, or a completed vocational training with a focus on finance, accounting, tax, or controlling.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in finance and controlling.
- Professional experience in research institutions or non-profit organizations is considered an advantage.
- Experience with external audit regulations and compliance.
