Job Summary
The Museum Technician will play a vital role in maintaining the Energiefabrik Knappenrode, a significant industrial heritage site. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing building and facility operations, monitoring technical systems (HVAC, lighting, security, and audiovisual equipment), and performing general maintenance and repairs on wood and metal components. You will coordinate with external contractors, assist in exhibition installation, manage inventory, and provide technical support for events. Additionally, the role involves operating transport machinery and conducting visitor tours via rail trolley. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional with a strong trade background who enjoys a diverse, public-facing environment. You will work as part of a team dedicated to preserving industrial history while supporting the site's ongoing operations. The role requires flexibility, including availability for weekend and holiday shifts, and offers the stability of a public service position within a unique cultural setting.

Completed vocational training (Facharbeiterabschluss) in a skilled trade profession.
Experience

- Demonstrated experience in facility management or technical maintenance

- Valid driver's license class C1 (required). Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and evenings. Willingness to undergo further training. Preferred: First Aid certification, forklift operator license, brush cutter permit, and welding certificate.
