Job Summary

This role involves supporting the 'Atomic-scale Characterisation' chair by operating high-vacuum instrumentation, including Atom Probe Tomography (APT), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). You will be responsible for sample preparation, conducting chemical and electrochemical experiments, and managing laboratory operations, including hazardous materials handling, safety documentation, and procurement. The position requires a high level of independence, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work within an international research team. You will also participate in on-call rotations and support educational activities. The role is initially limited to two years with a potential for a permanent contract, making it an excellent opportunity for a technician with a background in materials science, chemistry, or physics to work with cutting-edge analytical tools in a collaborative academic environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technician or degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics with a focus on material characterization.

Experience

  • Professional experience in material characterization (microscopic or spectroscopic)
  • Professional experience in chemical and electrochemical experiments
  • Professional experience in inorganic synthesis
  • Experience working with gloveboxes
  • Experience in laboratory organization and safety management
