Job Summary

This role involves working as a Research Associate within the German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) at the Federal Environment Agency. The successful candidate will be responsible for allocating emission allowances to industrial facilities, approving monitoring and methodology plans, and reviewing annual emission reports. A key part of the job includes granting subsidies for electricity price compensation and engaging in extensive communication with plant operators, experts, and authorities across Germany and the EU. The position also requires conceptual work and analysis to further develop emissions trading and decarbonization strategies, contributing to publications. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Master, University Diploma) in Natural Sciences or Engineering, such as Energy, Environmental, or Process Engineering.

Experience

  • Professional experience in capturing and evaluating substance, energy, and emission data
  • Good knowledge of European emissions trading, including economic, legal, and environmental policy aspects
  • High degree of teamwork ability and capacity for interdisciplinary work
  • Ability for conceptual work, negotiation skills, and persuasiveness
  • Desirable: Administrative or plant-related enforcement experience
