Job Summary

Saarland University is seeking a Professor of Recycling Technologies for Circular Materials to join the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology. In this role, you will lead research and teaching in innovative recycling approaches, focusing on 'Recyclability by Design' at the material level, stimulus-responsive binders, and bio-based CO2 fixation. You will be a key figure in the university's new 'Sustainability' research focus, collaborating with multidisciplinary networks including DFKI and INM. Day-to-day, you will establish new courses in recycling technologies, supervise laboratory internships, and participate in academic self-administration. This position is initially a fixed-term W2 professorship for six years, with a clear path to a permanent W3 lifetime professorship following successful evaluation. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field; Doctorate (PhD); and additional scientific qualifications (Habilitation, equivalent achievements, or Junior Professorship).

Experience

  • Extensive professional experience in material science, engineering, chemistry, or physics
  • Proven track record of high-quality scientific publications and conference contributions
  • Experience in university-level teaching with positive evaluations, ideally in metallurgy or sustainability
  • Experience in acquiring and managing third-party funded research projects
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary research networks and academic committees
  • Experience in international academic cooperation and English-language instruction
