Job Summary
As an Associate Principal Scientist in Proteomics, you will play a vital role in drug discovery by applying mass spectrometry-based proteomics to solve complex biological questions. Operating within an international, interdisciplinary R&D team, you will act as a 'Drug Hunter' to identify new drug targets and drive go/no-go decisions across various phases of research, including target evaluation and lead optimization. Your daily work involves implementing innovative quantitative proteomics technologies, such as LC-MS/MS and Data-Independent Acquisition, to analyze biological samples. You will also be responsible for extracting and interpreting biological insights from large-scale OMICs datasets using programming languages like R or Python. This position is particularly attractive for scientists looking to contribute to meaningful pharmaceutical research at a global leader like Bayer, offering a highly collaborative environment and access to state-of-the-art technology like Orbitrap Astral or timsTOF mass spectrometers.
Required Skills
Education
PhD in Biology, Chemical Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
Experience
- Professional experience in a drug discovery environment
- Extensive practical experience with modern quantitative proteomics technologies
- Proven experience in analyzing large-scale OMICs datasets using R or Python
- Experience in interdisciplinary team collaboration and scientific presentation

- The position is a fixed-term contract for 24 months. Location is Wuppertal-Aprath, Germany. Candidates must be able to work in a full-time capacity.
