Job Summary

This position offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) with a strong bioinformatics focus in the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. As a Student Research Assistant, you will support research into the genetic connections of Autoimmune Hepatitis (AIH) by working directly with clinical data. Your day-to-day responsibilities include data research, evaluating public Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) data, and integrating single-cell multi-omic data to map cell-type-specific risk networks. This role is particularly attractive for its flexibility, offering a choice between home office and on-site work, access to high-performance computing infrastructure, and the potential to contribute to publications in scientific journals. The position is funded through the Collaborative Research Center (SFB 1700), providing a stable research environment within one of Germany's leading university clinics.

Required Skills

Education

Current enrollment in a degree program (Bachelor's or Master's) in Medicine, Biology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related natural science field.

Experience

  • Professional experience or academic background in Medicine, Biology, Computer Science, or Bioinformatics
  • Experience in scientific literature research and data analysis
  • Previous exposure to bioinformatics or programming is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Experience working in a clinical or laboratory research environment is preferred
