Job Summary

This Postdoc position at the University of Duisburg-Essen focuses on Embedded AI, specifically the efficient execution of AI models on resource-constrained systems. You will work within a growing research team in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute (IMS) to develop end-to-end solutions from model training to hardware-near implementation. Day-to-day, you will optimize neural networks using quantization and pruning, develop toolchains for deployment on microcontrollers and FPGAs, and evaluate performance metrics like latency and energy consumption. Beyond technical development, you will publish research in high-ranking journals, apply for third-party funding, and mentor students. This role is highly attractive for researchers seeking to bridge the gap between academic theory and industrial applications in fields like medical technology and autonomous robotics, offering a collaborative environment with flexible working options and professional development support.
