Job Summary
This role involves the independent execution of material testing and analysis within the automotive sector, focusing on ensuring the quality and integrity of forged and finished parts. As a Materials Laboratory Technician, you will perform a wide range of tests including hardness testing (Vickers, Brinell, Rockwell), metallographic examinations, spectral analysis, and crack detection. You will be responsible for creating and validating test programs, conducting initial sample inspections, and supporting damage analysis on reclaimed components. Beyond testing, you will play a critical role in quality assurance by monitoring QM standards (IATF 16949) and making release decisions for production. This position is ideal for an experienced professional looking to apply deep technical expertise in a stable, serial production environment. Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Materials Tester, Metallographer, Physics/Chemical Laboratory Assistant, or Industrial Mechanic/Mechatronics Technician with relevant further training. Ideally a state-certified Technician qualification in Materials Technology, Metal Technology, or Physics.
Experience
- Professional experience in material testing and metallographic examination within a production environment
- Experience in creating and applying measurement and test programs for various testing procedures
- Proven track record in conducting hardness tests and making production release decisions
- Experience with quality assurance measures and monitoring QM standards in the automotive industry
- Background in performing initial sampling (PPAP/ISIR) and creating test reports for customers
