Job Summary

As the Team Lead for the Data Development Pool within the Societal Observatory Using Novel Data Sources (SOUNDS) project at Saarland University, you will play a pivotal role in bridging computer and social sciences. You will lead a specialized team of at least three Data Engineers to build and maintain a central data infrastructure, including Data Warehouses and Data Lakes, to support interdisciplinary research on societal transformation. Your daily responsibilities involve designing technical architectures for diverse data sources like satellite imagery and social media, ensuring data quality and compliance, and consulting with researchers on technical solutions. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys a dynamic, scientific environment and wants to contribute to high-impact research. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Social Science, or a comparable field. A PhD in a relevant field is considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in data engineering, big data, or cloud architectures
  • Experience in processing large and heterogeneous data sets
  • Initial experience in team leadership or project management
  • Professional experience collaborating with academic researchers or university environments
  • Experience with modern data streaming technologies and integration processes
