This leadership role involves managing Department 63.4 of the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection (LANUK), overseeing a team of approximately 20 employees across three locations: Herten, Hagen, and Münster. The successful candidate will be responsible for the conceptual planning of sampling for wastewater, surface water, and groundwater monitoring. Key tasks include organizing sampling logistics, managing resources such as materials and vehicle procurement, and coordinating with regulatory authorities and water boards. Additionally, you will handle data management within laboratory information systems and provide technical consultation to partners. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with strong leadership skills and a background in environmental engineering or chemistry. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor/Diploma) in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a comparable field with an environmental or analytical chemistry focus; or completed career examination for the higher technical administrative service.

Experience

  • At least 4 years of professional experience in environmental monitoring, sampling, or analytical chemistry
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in a relevant technical field
  • Professional experience in wastewater sampling and the operation of wastewater treatment plants is preferred
  • Experience with administrative structures in environmental monitoring is an advantage
