Job Summary

As a Firmware Developer for Functional Safety at Beckhoff Automation, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of embedded software for microcontrollers in accordance with the IEC 61508 safety standard. Your daily work involves processing digital and analog signals, implementing safety mechanisms within real-time systems, and developing diagnostic functions and self-tests. You will work closely with the safety electronics development team to integrate, debug, and optimize software on hardware prototypes and develop suitable test environments. This role is highly technical, requiring a deep dive into communication interfaces like UART, SPI, and Ethernet. Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in embedded software development using C, C++, and Python on ARM-based microcontroller platforms.
  • Experience with hardware debugging tools such as JTAG, SWD, and emulators.
  • Practical knowledge in static code analysis and unit testing methodologies.
  • Experience in implementing control technology on microcontrollers is preferred.
  • Experience working within functional safety standards (IEC 61508) and MISRA C guidelines is highly desirable.
