Job Summary

This position is based within the 'Scrape-Off Layer Analysis and Refinement in Stellarators' (SOLARIS) junior research group at the University of Greifswald. As a Research Associate, you will be responsible for the installation and operation of the MANTIS visible spectroscopy system within the VINETA experiment. Your daily work involves conducting experimental plasma physics research, specifically using visible spectroscopy to analyze particle density and temperature in both VINETA and the Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) stellarator. You will validate atomic data, investigate transport in the divertor under detached conditions, and document your findings for international conferences and peer-reviewed journals. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the cutting edge of fusion research and plasma physics in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP). The position is part-time (75%) and offers a fixed-term contract with an intended extension to three years, providing a stable platform for academic development.
