Job Summary
This role involves joining the Vehicle Engineering team in Berlin to design and develop next-generation automotive closure systems, including doors, hoods, liftgates, mechanisms, and glazing. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the entire product lifecycle from conceptualization and CAD design to manufacturing release and production launch. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and global suppliers to achieve ambitious targets for function, quality, cost, and weight. The position is ideal for innovative problem-solvers who enjoy a fast-paced, flat-hierarchy environment and are eager to work on high-stakes automotive programs. Whether you are a junior engineer or a seasoned expert, you will contribute to technical architecture, feasibility studies, and the physical assessment of fit and finish, ensuring world-class craftsmanship for Tesla's European and global markets.
Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience with evidence of exceptional ability.
Experience
- Professional experience in mechanical design and engineering within the automotive sector
- Experience in the development and launch of closure commodities (structural panels, mechanisms, or sealing)
- Demonstrated experience using engineering tools such as DFSS, DFMEA, and GD&T
- Proven track record of managing internal and external suppliers to meet vehicle development milestones
- Experience with vehicle development processes from concept through to production launch

Additional
- Must be willing to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Experience with 3D printing, CMM, and homologation testing is considered a plus. Application must be submitted in English.
