Job Summary
As an Electrical Design Engineer at Harry Lucas, a family-owned manufacturer of specialized textile machinery, you will play a pivotal role in the development and construction of high-tech circular knitting and spiraling machines. Your daily responsibilities include planning electrical assemblies, designing complete machine control systems, and creating detailed circuit diagrams using EPLAN. You will manage projects from the initial conceptual phase through to final delivery, ensuring all electrical components are correctly calculated and documented. A unique aspect of this role is the opportunity to witness your designs come to life by supporting commissioning, testing, and acceptance procedures (FAT/SAT) both in-house and at international client sites. This position is ideal for a proactive engineer who enjoys a mix of technical CAD work and hands-on project oversight within a collaborative 12-person development team.
Required Skills
Education
Completed degree or vocational training in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or a comparable qualification.
Experience
- Professional experience in electrical design, specifically in the planning and implementation of control systems
- Proven experience using common electrical CAD tools, with a strong preference for EPLAN
- Experience in creating and maintaining electrical circuit diagrams and technical documentation
- Experience in supporting machine commissioning and acceptance testing
