Job Summary

As the Chief Information Officer at Ruhr University Bochum, you will hold a key leadership position with overall strategic and technical responsibility for IT and digitalization. You will be tasked by the Rectorate to drive the university's digital transformation, ensuring it becomes a catalyst for innovation, performance, and security across research, teaching, and administration. Your day-to-day involves developing digital strategies to strengthen sovereignty and resilience, advising university leadership, and managing the university's IT organization. You will coordinate various IT service providers, manage substantial budgets, and represent the institution in regional and national university alliances. This role is highly attractive for a visionary leader who wants to shape the future of a major academic institution through sophisticated IT governance and large-scale project management in a permanent, full-time capacity.

Required Skills

Education

Completed relevant scientific university degree (Master's level or equivalent).

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in a leading role within an IT or digitalization environment
  • Extensive experience in managing complex organizations and decentralized structures
  • Proven track record in initiating and steering large-scale IT projects
  • Experience in strategic advisory for executive boards or rectorates
