Job Summary

As an Electrical Engineering Technician for the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS), you will play a vital role in environmental safety and public protection. Your daily responsibilities involve conducting nuclide-specific measurements using mobile systems and maintaining the nationwide Gamma Ambient Dose Rate (ODL) monitoring network. You will plan and execute field trips across Baden-Württemberg, parts of Rhineland-Palatinate, and Hesse to service measurement stations, perform comparative measurements, and ensure data-supported documentation. The role requires a hands-on approach to inspecting electronic components, maintaining service vehicles, and ensuring the operational readiness of radiological emergency systems. Required Skills

Education

State-certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfte*r Techniker*in) in Electrical Engineering, Physics Technology, or Measurement and Control Technology.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a state-certified technician in electrical, physics, or measurement engineering
  • Practical experience in digital data transmission and radio technology is preferred
  • Experience in working with low-voltage networks (230V)
  • Experience in radiation protection and DGUV V3 inspections is highly desirable
  • Proven experience in field service, including driving service vehicles and planning logistics
  • Experience in technical documentation and data-supported reporting

Languages

English (Basic)

Additional

  • Valid driver's license (Class B) and fitness for field service are required. Must be willing to participate in radiological emergency protection exercises, including the ability to wear respiratory protection. Physical fitness to lift and carry loads up to 16 kg is essential.
