PhD Researcher in Atomic-scale Characterization of Solid Electrolyte Interphases | 3-year PhD positions (m/f/x) in ‘Atomic-scale characterization of solid electrolyte interphases in l
Ruhr-Universität Bochum
Job Summary
This three-year PhD position, funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant under the supervision of Prof. Tong Li, focuses on the fundamental understanding of electrode/electrolyte interfaces in lithium batteries. As a PhD candidate, you will utilize state-of-the-art atom probe tomography and innovative cryogenic sample preparation to resolve the atomic-scale chemistry of solid electrolyte interphases (SEI) and cathode electrolyte interphases (CEI). Your daily work will involve assembling battery cells, performing electrochemical cycling tests, and employing advanced microscopy techniques to solve critical issues like dendrite formation and low efficiency. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary environment at the forefront of materials science and energy storage technology. The position is ideal for self-motivated researchers looking to develop high-energy-density rechargeable battery solutions while gaining expertise in high-end analytical capabilities.
