Job Summary
This role involves leading the 'Data Management and Information Technology' department at the Geological Survey of North Rhine-Westphalia (GD NRW). As the department head, you will manage a team of ten professionals, including developers, system administrators, and an information security officer. Your day-to-day responsibilities include the strategic planning and development of IT infrastructure, coordinating operative problem-solving, and overseeing the internal development of specialized IT applications. You will be responsible for ensuring a secure and stable infrastructure in compliance with BSI standards and state regulations. This position is unique as it combines high-level strategic leadership with technical oversight of diverse areas such as high-performance computing, virtualization, and database management. It offers a permanent civil service or public sector contract (A15/E15) within a creative, interdisciplinary environment that supports flexible and mobile working.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Master's or Diploma) with a practical focus on Information Technology.
Experience
- Professional experience in leading IT teams is required
- Extensive practical experience in modern information and communication technology
- Experience in strategic planning and development of IT infrastructure
- Experience in conceptualizing and steering the development of internal IT applications
- Experience in IT budget planning and managing large-scale IT procurement/tenders
- Experience in managing maintenance, licensing, and leasing contracts
