Job Summary
This critical role serves as the legally responsible Managing Director for trade and waste law compliance (pursuant to § 39 GewO and § 26 AWG) within a growing circular economy company. The successful candidate will oversee the adherence to all environmental regulations, manage official permits, and act as the primary liaison for Austrian regulatory authorities such as the Provincial Government and the Federal Environment Agency. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing for official audits, advancing the ISO 14001 environmental management system, and managing electronic data reporting via the EDM portal. This position is ideal for a highly responsible professional with a background in plastic recycling or waste management who enjoys a mix of legal compliance, technical oversight, and strategic collaboration with executive leadership. The role offers a high degree of autonomy in a flat-hierarchy environment located in the scenic region of Carinthia.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Waste Management, Environmental Engineering, Process Engineering, or a comparable field (e.g., Montanuniversität Leoben or BOKU Vienna). Must possess the certificate of professional competence according to § 26 AWG 2002.
Experience
- 2-3 years of professional experience in waste management or plastic recycling
- Proven experience with official licensing procedures and regulatory authorities
- Professional experience in implementing or maintaining environmental management systems
- Experience in employee training and sensitization regarding waste management topics

- Must meet the legal requirements to serve as a Managing Director under Austrian Trade Law (§ 39 GewO 1994) and Waste Management Law (§ 26 AWG 2002). Requires a minimum commitment of 50% of standard weekly working hours to satisfy legal managing director requirements.
