Job Summary

This position offers a unique opportunity to join the GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Cologne, working within the Digital Society Observatory team. As a PhD Candidate, you will engage in cutting-edge research at the intersection of social science and technology, specifically focusing on the development and implementation of AI agents to simulate and analyze human behavior. Your daily responsibilities will include designing digital behavioral datasets from social media and web tracking, configuring large language models (LLMs), and contributing to the institute's Open Science strategy by improving data reproducibility. This role is highly attractive as it provides a four-year contract with a 75% workload, allowing dedicated time for a doctoral degree at RWTH Aachen University. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in a field relevant to Computational Social Science, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, Sociology, Communication Science, Political Science, or Linguistics.

Experience

  • Professional experience or academic background in developing and coordinating AI agent systems.
  • Experience in configuring, prompting, and fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Proven experience in research activities, specifically within the fields of data science or social sciences.
  • Experience with digital behavioral data collection and analysis is preferred.
