Job Summary

This role involves contributing to the EU-funded AF-B-STEP project, which investigates the impact of atrial fibrillation burden on cardiovascular outcomes. As a PhD candidate at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), you will conduct systematic literature reviews, perform simulation studies, and develop modern causal inference methods to estimate effects from observational studies. You will work within a highly qualified interdisciplinary team of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and clinical cardiologists. The position is uniquely designed as a qualification role, offering the opportunity to complete a doctorate within the UKE PhD program. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Epidemiology, Statistics, Biostatistics, Public Health, Mathematics, or a related field with sound epidemiological and statistical training.

Experience

  • Professional experience in analyzing medical and epidemiological data
  • Experience in causal inference, specifically dealing with confounders and time-varying exposures, is preferred
  • Experience in statistical programming, preferably using R or STATA
  • Previous involvement in academic teaching or statistical consulting is an advantage

Additional

  • Proof of full immunization against the measles virus is required before starting employment. The position is initially limited to three years with a possible extension. Location: Hamburg, Germany.
