Job Summary
This role is part of an ERC Starting Grant-funded project titled 'Neuro-Immuno-Oncology and Cell Therapy' at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). As a PhD student, you will focus on developing and preclinically evaluating novel cell therapy approaches for malignant brain tumors, specifically pediatric high-grade gliomas. Your daily work involves formulating scientific questions, planning and executing complex experiments using state-of-the-art techniques like microglia replacement strategies, and interpreting experimental data. You will be directly supervised by the head of the research group and participate in a structured doctoral program. This position is ideal for highly motivated researchers looking to make a significant scientific impact in pediatric oncology within a dynamic, collaborative team. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Master's or equivalent) in Natural Sciences, such as Molecular Medicine, Biology, or Neuroscience.
Experience
- Professional experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques
- Practical experience in conducting animal experiments (mouse models)
- Previous experience in neuro-oncology or neuroimmunology is highly preferred
- Experience with intracranial stereotactic injections or similar surgical procedures is a significant advantage
- Experience in bioinformatics or programming with R is preferred

Additional
- Proof of full immunization against the measles virus is required prior to employment. The position is part-time (65%) and fixed-term for three years with the possibility of extension. Location: Hamburg, Germany.
