Job Summary
As a member of the IT Investigation Team within the Austrian Tax Investigation Unit, you will serve as the operational spearhead against organized tax evasion. Your daily responsibilities involve identifying manipulations in corporate IT systems, conducting forensic data recovery, and reconstructing deleted or damaged tax-relevant data. You will play a critical role in law enforcement actions, including preparing and executing search warrants, seizing digital evidence from hardware and software interfaces, and interviewing witnesses or suspects. This position is unique because it grants you the full legal powers of the criminal police while focusing on high-level financial forensics. The role requires a high degree of flexibility, including readiness for field service and participation in specialized operational training. Required Skills
Education
Secondary school leaving certificate (Matura) required: High school diploma (AHS), Vocational diploma (BHS), or Professional maturity exam. Preference for candidates from Technical Colleges (HTL) or those with an IT focus.
Experience
- Professional experience in IT systems analysis or forensics
- Experience in handling hardware and software interfaces
- Experience in data evaluation and reporting
- Experience or readiness to conduct interviews with witnesses and suspects
Languages

- Austrian citizenship required; valid driver's license; willingness for field service and flexible working hours (on-call duty); mandatory participation in physical operational training; security clearance according to §§ 55ff SPG; medical fitness check; proof of completed military or civil service (if applicable).
