Job Summary

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of research and production within a leading biotechnology company. Depending on your specific background and interests, you will join either the Research & Development team or the Process Development team. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting practical laboratory work such as enzyme characterization, biosensor development, and analytical chromatography (HPLC/IC). Alternatively, you may focus on microbial strain optimization (specifically Bacillus spp.) and fermentation process development. You will be responsible for experimental execution, data collection, and documentation of measurement series while ensuring laboratory safety and maintenance. This position is particularly attractive due to its location at the modern Kerry Biotechnology Centre in Leipzig, offering a collaborative international environment, flat hierarchies, and the chance to work on future-oriented industrial manufacturing processes for the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), Biological Technical Assistant (BTA), Chemical Laboratory Assistant, or Biological Laboratory Assistant; alternatively, a university degree (Bachelor, Master, or Diploma) in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioprocess Engineering, or Chemistry.

Experience

  • Professional experience in enzyme characterization, biosensorics, or analytical chromatography
  • Professional experience in microbial strain development or fermentation optimization
  • Experience in conducting genetic engineering and microbiological laboratory work
  • Experience in the maintenance and functional control of analytical equipment
