Job Summary

This Research Associate position, based in the Faculty of Mechanical, Process, and Energy Engineering at the Institute of Heat Engineering and Thermodynamics, focuses on an applied research project within the IGF lead technology program. The successful candidate will experimentally investigate the ignition and reaction behavior of ammonia and its effects on furnace and structural materials. Key tasks include modifying a tube furnace and conducting storage experiments under ammonia combustion atmospheres, utilizing various test stands and measurement techniques for characterization. The goal is to translate research findings into transferable concepts for industrial application. This role involves collaboration with other research institutions and is integrated into a nationally and internationally networked professorship, offering a unique opportunity for scientific qualification and promotion within a supportive academic environment.

Required Skills

Education

University Diploma or Master's degree in Material Sciences, Engineering, or Natural Sciences (preferably Mechanical Engineering, Process and Energy Technology)

Experience

  • Professional experience in material-technical aging and damage processes, preferably metals and ceramics
  • Knowledge of thermochemical processes is advantageous
