Job Summary
Joining the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES) in Bremerhaven, you will play a vital role in the energy transition by focusing on the grid integration of wind turbines and hybrid parks. Your day-to-day work involves a mix of hands-on technical tasks and research, including commissioning converter test benches and optimizing Power-Hardware-in-the-loop (PHiL) systems. You will develop grid models, perform real-time simulations, and conduct model validation for harmonics and Electromagnetic Transients (EMT). Beyond technical execution, you will manage research and industrial projects, collaborate with international clients, and document findings in scientific publications. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering with a relevant technical focus.
Experience
- Professional experience or academic focus in electrical, energy, or control engineering
- Experience with MATLAB and PSCAD for simulation and modeling
- Experience in grid modeling and control engineering (theoretical knowledge acceptable for entry-level)
- Experience in commissioning or operating test benches is preferred
- Experience in project management or leading research/industrial projects is an advantage

- The position is fixed-term for 3 years. Location: Bremerhaven, Germany. Full-time (39 hours/week) or near full-time part-time available. Employment is based on the TVöD public service collective agreement.
