Job Summary
As the Head of the Budget and Finance unit at the Berlin State Library, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for the strategic financial management of one of Europe's most significant scientific libraries. Your day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing the public budget in compliance with federal regulations (BHO), managing third-party project funds from major organizations like the DFG and EU, and driving the digital transformation of financial workflows. You will serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on financial strategy and process optimization. This role is particularly attractive for experienced professionals looking for a permanent position within Germany's largest cultural institution. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor, Diploma, or equivalent) in Public Administration, Finance Management, Business Administration (focus on Public Administration or Controlling/Accounting), Cultural Management, or a related field.
Experience
- Proven experience in public sector budget management, specifically regarding federal budget and grant law (BHO)
- Professional experience in the administrative management of third-party funded projects
- Demonstrated leadership experience or several years of experience in a coordinating function
- Experience advising senior management on financial and budgetary strategy
- Experience in coordinating complex work processes and change management

- The position is permanent and based in Berlin. It follows the TVöD Bund (EG 11) salary scale, with the possibility of a specialist allowance. Part-time work is possible.
