Job Summary

As a Data Center Operator for the Berlin Police, you will be responsible for the 24/7 stability and security of the city's critical IT infrastructure, including the 110 emergency dispatch system. Your daily tasks involve monitoring central IT systems, managing storage networks (SAN), and serving as the primary technical contact for the service desk outside of standard office hours. You will administer multiple data center locations, perform hardware replacements, and oversee environmental systems like climate control and UPS. This role is highly dynamic, requiring you to analyze 1st-level disturbances and coordinate emergency measures using tools like HPE OneView and Dell iDrac. This position is unique because it offers the opportunity to apply high-level technical skills in a public safety environment that directly impacts the security of Berlin. The role operates on a shift-work basis to ensure round-the-clock operational readiness.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or Diploma (FH) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical degree with a focus on data processing.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the administration of modern operating systems including VMware and Red Hat Linux
  • Practical experience in storage administration and modern backup solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in IT network infrastructure and system monitoring
  • Experience in quality assurance and the implementation of IT security standards and emergency concepts
  • Experience working in a technical service desk or 1st-level support environment

  • Willingness to work shifts and participate in on-call rotations is mandatory. Candidates whose native language is not German must provide a C1 level language certificate. The selection process is conducted entirely in German.
