Job Summary
This role is based within the Atmospheric Chemistry Department (ACD) at the Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS), an internationally renowned research center. As a Chemical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for measuring inorganic and organic ion concentrations in atmospheric samples using Ion Chromatography (IC) and Capillary Electrophoresis (CE). Your daily routine will involve sample preparation, system maintenance, quality assurance, and the validation of measurement results in close collaboration with scientists. Additionally, you will help develop analytical methods for new target analytes and participate in field experiments. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional looking to contribute to climate and environmental research within a modern laboratory setting. The role offers flexible working hours and the opportunity to work in a globally visible scientific environment.
Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Chemical Laboratory Technician or a comparable qualification, preferably with a focus on instrumental analytics.
Experience
- Professional experience in instrumental analytics is preferred
- Experience in operating and maintaining analytical systems such as IC, CE, or LC
- Experience in a laboratory environment, specifically in sample preparation and measurement validation
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a scientific team

- Willingness to participate in field campaigns and associated business travel is preferred. This is a fixed-term position for 2 years with the possibility of permanent extension.
