Job Summary
As the Head of Sampling and Flow Measurement for the Saarland Waste Management Association (EVS), you will lead a specialized department within an accredited testing laboratory. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve overseeing flow measurement and sampling processes for wastewater, groundwater, and organic waste in compliance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standards. You will manage the maintenance of measuring equipment, draft work instructions, and coordinate quality assurance measures for external water investigations. This role is unique as it combines technical engineering oversight with administrative quality management, ensuring the protection of regional water resources. You will lead a team while maintaining the state-recognized testing center's quality manual. The position offers a stable public service contract (TVöD-VKA) and the opportunity to work in a critical environmental infrastructure role that values diversity and professional development for both experienced engineers and motivated career changers.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (TU/TH/FH) in Civil Engineering (focus on Civil Engineering, Urban and Industrial Water Management), Mechanical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering (focus on Water Management/Hydraulic Engineering). Career changers with relevant professional experience are also considered.
Experience
- Professional experience in water management, mechanical engineering, or environmental engineering
- Initial leadership experience is advantageous
- Practical experience in quality assurance and accreditation according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 is preferred
- Experience in independent project management and decision-making
- Experience working in field conditions, including uneven terrain and underground wastewater structures
