Job Summary
This role involves joining the Scalable Computing Hardware group at the Barkhausen Institute to develop secure and dependable multiprocessor systems-on-chip (MPSoC) for IoT applications. As a Research Associate, you will be responsible for the end-to-end hardware design process, from initial HDL simulation and verification to supporting FPGA prototyping and SoC tape-outs. Day-to-day tasks include developing hardware solutions for IoT security, embedded software programming, and contributing to high-quality research publications. This position is ideal for researchers who enjoy a mix of creative design and technical implementation. The role offers a highly collaborative environment with flat hierarchies, flexible agile working hours, and support for relocating to Dresden. It is a fixed-term 2-year contract remunerated under the TV-L E-13 scale, making it an attractive opportunity for those looking to bridge the gap between fundamental research and practical hardware application.
Required Skills
Education
Above-average Master's degree (MSc/Diploma) or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related research field.
Experience
- Professional experience with SoC design flows and related software tools
- Professional experience in hardware implementation and HDL development
- Experience in embedded software programming and simulation
- Experience in writing research publications and project deliverables
- Knowledge of processor systems and instruction set architectures
