Job Summary

As a Field Service Engineer for the Materials and Structural Analysis Division, you will be responsible for the on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated scientific instrumentation, specifically Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectrometers (XPS). Operating from a home office in Southern Germany, you will troubleshoot complex issues involving vacuum systems, high-voltage electronics, and precision mechanics. Your daily activities include providing technical training to customers, managing local spare parts inventory, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through timely service reporting. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field (Engineering or Physics preferred), or equivalent full education in TEM or XPS.

Experience

  • 5 years of professional experience in a related scientific, technical, or customer-facing service role
  • Professional experience in troubleshooting vacuum and high voltage systems
  • Proven experience in reading and interpreting technical schematics
  • Experience in instrument systems technology including electronics and software
  • Knowledge of Electron Microscopy or XPS for recent graduates

  • Valid Class B driver's license required. Willingness to travel frequently within the southern region and internationally (up to 30%). Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Rhein-Main area, Karlsruhe, or Munich.
