Job Summary

The Lower Saxony State Theatre in Hanover is seeking a Stage Machinery Technician to join the Drama Department starting in August 2026. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and programming of computer-controlled stage machinery and electrical drive components. Your daily tasks involve managing complex scenic transitions during rehearsals and live performances, as well as maintaining, testing, and repairing drive and safety systems. You will also play a key role in developing and building custom drive solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to work behind the scenes of one of Germany's largest multi-genre theaters, collaborating closely with artistic teams. The role is attractive for its permanent contract, health management benefits (including yoga and fitness), and a structured pay scale (TVöD E 7) with theater-specific allowances.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an Electronics Technician for Devices and Systems, or a comparable qualification as an Event Technician with a focus on Electronics.

Experience

  • Professional experience in setting up and operating computer-controlled stage machinery
  • Experience in programming complex scenic transformations for live theater
  • Background in maintenance, testing, and repair of drive and safety systems
  • Proven experience in the development and construction of custom drives and control systems
  • Experience working within artistic production environments and collaborating with creative teams
