Job Summary
This role supports the 'Evolution of Polygenic Traits' research group at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily care and maintenance of Drosophila (fruit fly) strains and the execution of evolution experiments. This involves managing populations under varying temperature and nutritional conditions, performing essential cleaning and disinfection tasks, and documenting research data. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a leading international basic research facility with an interdisciplinary team. It is ideal for someone who values precision in animal handling and enjoys a dynamic environment where research needs can change daily. Required Skills
Education
Completed vocational training as a Biological Laboratory Technician (Biologielaborant/in) is preferred.
Experience
- Professional experience in a laboratory environment
- Experience in handling Drosophila (fruit flies) is highly advantageous
- Experience in conducting and documenting scientific experiments
- Experience working with digital data management tools

- Valid work permit for Germany is required. Flexibility for weekend and public holiday shifts is mandatory. Position is initially limited to two years with a potential extension to four years.
