Job Summary

The Deutsche Bundesbank is seeking two Cloud Engineers to join an international team of experts responsible for building and operating the foundational infrastructure for the Digital Euro. In this role, you will focus on a combination of network engineering, IaaS/PaaS architectures, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and optimizing cloud environments, automating complex network infrastructures (LAN/WAN, firewalls, load balancers), and implementing SRE best practices such as monitoring and incident response. You will work within cross-national teams alongside other central banks to ensure high reliability and security. This position is unique as it offers the chance to shape the future of money within a stable public service environment. The role is available in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, or Leipzig and offers significant remote work flexibility (up to 60%) and the potential for civil servant status (Verbeamtung).

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a STEM field (preferably Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Business Informatics); or equivalent knowledge gained through long-term professional experience.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the design and operation of cloud infrastructures with a focus on networks and Linux administration
  • Professional experience with infrastructure automation and scripting using tools like Bash, Python, or IaC frameworks
  • Proven experience in network design and operation including routing, firewalls, and load balancing
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Professional experience in IT security, key management, and disaster recovery concepts
