Job Summary
This role involves comprehensive GIS and cartography work within the field of monument preservation for the Brandenburg State Office for Monument Preservation and Archaeological State Museum. The specialist will be responsible for digitizing and completing the GIS-based monument map inventory of Brandenburg, integrating various map bases, and supporting staff with GIS applications. Key tasks also include managing both analog and digital map archives, conceptualizing and building GIS-based monument maps and databases (using tools like kvwmap and QGIS), and preparing maps for publications and online presence. The ideal candidate will have a background in geoinformation or related fields with strong GIS experience, and knowledge of monument preservation principles. This is a temporary, part-time position (32 hours/week) until September 2026, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the digital transformation of cultural heritage documentation.

Education
Completed university degree (B.A., M.A., Mag., or Diploma) in Geoinformation, Geography, Environmental Information, Archaeology, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Art History, or Urban Planning
Experience
- Professional experience in geoinformation or related fields with additional qualifications in geoinformation
- Knowledge of monument preservation principles and the Brandenburg monument landscape
