Job Summary

This role involves joining the GWA Gesellschaft für Wasser- und Abwasserservice mbH, a key subsidiary of the Erfurt municipal utilities group, at their accredited testing laboratory in Tambach-Dietzharz. As a Research Associate, you will be responsible for the acquisition and execution of water monitoring projects, specifically focusing on microscopic examinations for species identification and biomass calculation of phyto- and zooplankton. You will evaluate biological water data using specialized software, conduct ecotoxicological biotests according to water quality modules, and produce detailed technical reports. This position is ideal for a biologist or limnologist who enjoys a mix of laboratory work and data analysis. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Biology, Limnology, Hydrobiology, or a comparable field of study.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the assessment of biological components such as macrozoobenthos, phyto- and zooplankton, macrophytes, or phytobenthos in flowing and standing waters is desirable
  • Experience in evaluating and assessing biological water data using specialized software
  • Practical experience in conducting ecotoxicological investigations and biotests
  • Experience in microscopic imaging and material composition assessment
