Job Summary

This role involves managing the digital transformation and long-term preservation of historical records for the City of Duisburg. As an IT Specialist for the Municipal Archives, you will be responsible for developing concepts to transfer electronic documents from various city departments into the digital archive. Your daily work includes providing technical support to city offices, managing the 'DiPS.kommunal' long-term archiving solution, and preparing data for ingestion. You will also play a key role in developing a digital reading room to make historical records accessible to the public and researchers. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Archival Science, History, or Cultural Studies; OR a completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (System Integration/Application Development) or Digitalization Management Assistant.

Experience

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in IT or Digital Humanities if holding a relevant Bachelor's or Diploma degree
  • At least 6 years of relevant professional experience if applying with a vocational IT qualification (e.g., Fachinformatiker)
  • Professional experience in dealing with databases and XML processing
  • Experience in the public sector or archival systems is preferred
