Job Summary

As a Digital Development Manager (also known as a 'Digital Scout'), you will play a pivotal role in the digital transformation of the Staatstheater Darmstadt, steering it toward becoming an agile and digital cultural institution. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve coordinating all digitalization measures, managing IT security, and acting as a Product Owner for digital workplace solutions, including hardware and software procurement. You will be responsible for developing a comprehensive digital strategy in collaboration with theater leadership and managing external strategic partnerships. This role is unique because it bridges the gap between traditional performing arts and cutting-edge technology, allowing you to evaluate and implement digital trends within a creative environment. You will lead cross-departmental projects and manage the digitalization and IT staff, ensuring that the theater remains at the forefront of technological innovation in the arts sector.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree in Computer Science, Cultural Informatics, or Digital Humanities.

Experience

  • Several years of professional and project management experience within cultural institutions and digital development environments
  • Proven experience in IT areas such as information architecture and database management
  • Experience in implementing modern agile methods like Kanban and Design Thinking
  • Experience in managing external strategic partnerships and service providers
  • Experience in procurement processes, including requirements analysis and creating performance specifications

Additional

  • The position is initially limited to a 2-year contract. Applicants must be able to work on-site in Darmstadt. Experience with international digital trends in theater is highly desirable.
