Job Summary
This PhD position at the Institute of Biochemistry at Kiel University offers a unique opportunity to join Dr. Matthias Voss’s research group, focusing on the molecular regulation of glycosylation within the Golgi apparatus. The successful candidate will investigate the proteolytic cleavage of Golgi-resident enzymes, specifically the protease SPPL3, and its impact on physiological processes such as tumor immune evasion. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting experiments using molecular cloning, genome editing, high-resolution imaging, and proteomics within both cellular and in vivo models. The role is part of a DFG-funded project, providing close mentoring and a stimulating scientific environment. Required Skills
Education
Completed academic university degree (Master's or equivalent) in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or medicine with very good/good grades.
Experience
- Demonstrated expertise in molecular and cell biology techniques
- Prior in-depth experience with high-resolution imaging, cell culture, or proteomics
- Proven ability to work independently on scientific projects within an academic research laboratory
- Broad educational background in cell biology, immunology, or cancer biology

- The position is a 65% part-time role (25.16 hours/week). Salary is based on pay grade E 13 TV-L. Proof of Master's degree completion is required before the contract start date.
