Job Summary

This position is based at the Biochemical Institute of Kiel University within Dr. Matthias Voss's research group, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of Golgi apparatus glycosylation. As a Research Associate (PhD Candidate), you will investigate the molecular regulation of SPPL3 activity and the processing of Golgi enzymes. Your day-to-day work involves utilizing a broad spectrum of methods including cloning, genome editing, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, and high-resolution microscopy. The project transitions from cellular models to animal models to explore physiological processes like tumor immune evasion. This role is ideal for a motivated researcher seeking a stimulating academic environment with access to the DFG-funded Research Training Group 'ReMPro'. The position offers a 65% part-time contract (25.16 hours/week) for 36 months, providing a structured path toward a doctoral degree in a highly specialized field of membrane protein research.

  • Professional experience in molecular and cell biological laboratory methods
  • Documented experience in aseptic work and the cultivation of cell lines
  • Proven ability to conduct independent scientific research in a biomedical academic laboratory
  • Previous experience with high-resolution imaging, animal models, or proteomic analysis is highly preferred
  • Sound knowledge in cell biology, and ideally immunology or cancer biology
