Job Summary
The University Hospital Gießen and Marburg (UKGM) is seeking a dedicated Specialist Physician in Medical Microbiology Diagnostics for an immediate, full-time, permanent position at its Marburg location. In this vital role, you will provide expert diagnostic-infectious disease consultation to internal and external referrers, actively shaping the Antibiotic Stewardship program. Your responsibilities will include conducting diagnostic-infectious disease ward rounds, collaborating closely with hospital hygiene, and contributing to the establishment of a vaccination outpatient clinic. The position also offers opportunities to engage in the strategic development of the institute within the university medicine context, with involvement in research and teaching in human medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry, and the potential for habilitation and advancement to Deputy Institute Director. This role is ideal for a physician with a strong background in medical microbiology, molecular diagnostics, and an interest in digitalization and scientific work within a university setting.
Required Skills
Education
Degree in Human Medicine with State Examination and Medical License, Doctorate in Medicine or Natural Sciences, Specialist Physician training in Medical Microbiology, Virology and Infection Epidemiology or Laboratory Medicine, ABS qualification desirable.
Experience
- Professional experience in medical microbiology, virology, and infection epidemiology or laboratory medicine
- Experience in molecular biological diagnostics in microbiology and hygiene
- Experience in quality management and/or project management
- Interest in digitalization, artificial intelligence, and automation
- Interest in teaching and scientific work in university medicine

- Proof of sufficient immunization protection according to §§ 20, 23, 23a IfSG is required upon commencing employment at UKGM. Position is generally divisible for part-time work.
